In the wake of the calamity, Freia's family faced an irreparable rift - her elder Brother, having had enough of their Father's ambition & practice, tore himself free from the cycle he'd found himself a part of. Breaking free, choosing to live a life of his own with the hopes of someday freeing his sisters from the very same strife he'd once faced. Following the path of a scholar of ancient magicks, like his Father before him, he chose the path of the Adventurer. Falling in line with Louisoix Leveilleur's Circle of Knowing, exposing his sister Freia to the sage & his Archon's in the process.Following the Calamity, however, Alvis de Derinloire disappeared without a trace. His memory hazy to Freia, at best, while lost to most others. Despite this, Freia chose to follow in his footsteps. Forging a path of her own, while battling with her new role as a chosen of Hydaelyn.

  VERSE 02    —   Seventh Dawns. 
Following the events of the Calamity, Freia found herself struggling to pick up the pieces of a life in ruins. With her brother long missing, feeling smothered by a feeling of emptiness, Freia fell in line with the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Having been introduced to them prior to the Calamity, she sought them for answers - hoping to follow her Brother's footsteps, supporting the Warrior of Light in his adventures while using the opportunity to seek a purpose of her own.

In the heart of Ul'Dah lives a Witch, with ties stretching back to the ancient halls of Gelmorra & Mhach. A Witch with an incredible mastery of forbidden Black Magics & knowledge of the void.   Borne on the Isle of Skellige was a girl of Half-Elven blood   - with no parents nor family to call her own, scorned by playmates & villagers alike. Born to rags, begging on the village streets, until the fateful day that an elderly lady brought her a warm meal. The first she'd had in ages, it filled her warm belly and gave her the strength to survive at least to see another sunrise.So it was that the child formed a bond, treating her saviour as though she were her mother; and the woman, in turn, treated the child as her daughter ... So, for the first time in her life, she found a home to call her own.A home that she, nor other stray children, were ever allowed to leave...As days passed, months turned to years, questions arose.   1630      —  A young woman named Ekaterina is born in the Tsardom of Rus, in the city of Moscow, to a merchant and his fortune telling wife.

  1648    —  Law is passed in the Tsardom that applies the death penalty to anyone found practicing sorcery or witchcraft. Ekaterina and her mother, as a result, begin to live a more secluded life.

  1653    —  The law is amended and the applicable penalty for witchcraft & sorcery is now burning at the stake.

  1655    —  Ekaterina takes her first lover, a nobleman from moscow; the death of whom is rightfully blamed upon the young witch. Ekaterina was put to the stake, her remains later retrieved by her mother.

  1840    —  A young, red haired mage appears in Victorian England. Socially dependent on her mother, she was noted as having a hazy memory and was prone to exhaustion. When asked her name, her mother would answer, and eventually she came to be known as "Freia."

  1848    —  Freia's mother disappears, leaving no records nor trace of herself behind. Freia is left with more questions than answers. and tries to make the best of her situation by living as a normal human.

  1635-1640    —  Ekaterina is prone to sickness, frequently palid and quite ill. her mother, a witch, places special runes & sigils upon the childs body to expedite the healing process.

  1850    —  Freia takes a lover in the city, a pretty young man that she hoped to wed.

  1860's    —  Freia's courtship dissolves after the revelation hits that the girl is not aging. her partner grows increasingly suspicious and lets superstition rule him, driving her out of his life under the notion that she must be a monster of sorts.

  1880's-Current    —  The Witch Freia fell in with the world of Mages, choosing to be dependant on them while isolating herself socially. Choosing to live a life where she camouflaged herself, choosing to blend in with the world around her.

  Born some twenty-nine years ago   in a secluded house in the back streets of Redgrave City, there was a young child with hair like fire raised by her Father. Following the untimely death of the child's Mother, misfortune and desperation came upon her Father. Born of a Human and a Devil, the man felt powerless to protect his human wife from the illness that overtook her during pregnancy. Feeling weak, unable to care for his loved ones, it was said that the man made a deal with a servant from hell in a bid for strength. He sought the power to protect his his love, no matter the cost - but let it never be said that a Devil can be expected to play fair.For once the deal was sealed, the Devil made his request.The man's wife should live through pregnancy, but in exchange... This devil, in all his trickery, sought their daughter as payment.A promise which, by all accounts, was kept. The child was thus taken from her cradle, and she would henceforth become a doll for her infernal captor. A Princess kept in her little tower, showered with gifts of books & beautiful clothing. Spoiled rotten, but chained & bound at the whimsy of her captor.This is the tale of the Witch of Redgrave.

It was years she spent as a Doll for her Devil captor, prettied up in fancy dresses and offered gifts of poetry - as many books as her heart could desire. But she longed for freedom even still, she longed for an escape from the eyes of passersby who knew that something was awry. She desired normalcy, solitude, a peace that she'd never known. She longed for a single day without the gaze of her Devil ever watching over her. But this freedom was never something she assumed would come easy, until the day she could finally taste it. It was only after desperate pleading, with poison on her tongue, that she ever managed to find what she sought. For the Devil on her shoulder soon departed, leaving the Witch high and dry - allowing her the freedom she desired, but not without consequence...
